Supermarket chain Carrefour will again offer car leasing for private individuals. Five models will be offered until May 12, the retailer has announced. The offer only includes petrol cars.

For a fixed amount per month, customers can lease a car from Carrefour, including taxes, maintenance, repairs and insurance. This is a temporary promotion, limited to five models: Citroën C3 PureTech 83, Opel Corsa 1.2 Edition, Fiat 500 Dolcevita, Opel Corsa GS and Opel Crossland Elegance.

This is the second time that the supermarket chain offers lease cars. In 2016, Carrefour launched a similar campaign, although it only happened with one model. “It fits in with our strategy to diversify the offering and offer more services than just retail,” says Carrefour spokeswoman Siryn Stambouli. Just like eight years ago, Carrefour is working together with DirectLease for this.

The size of the offer is not disclosed. It is striking that the five models offered are all petrol cars. “The average consumer is not yet involved in the story of electric driving. The purchase price for those cars is higher, which also has consequences for the monthly lease price,” explains Erwin Coesens of DirectLease. “The consumer market is particularly price-driven. Experience shows us that consumers drop out after a certain monthly lease price.”
