A car moving in the Thu Thiem tunnel suddenly caught fire, authorities had to block off one direction from District 1 to Thu Duc City to handle the incident.
On the evening of August 2, the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention and Fighting Force is coordinating with relevant units to handle a car fire in the Thu Thiem tunnel.
At around 6:30 p.m. the same day, car with license plate 49A-422.xx running in Thu Thiem tunnel (Saigon River tunnel) from District 1 to Thu Duc City suddenly caught fire.

Upon discovering the incident, the on-site fire brigade quickly approached and extinguished the fire. Upon receiving the news, the Ben Thanh Traffic Police Team under the Traffic Police Department (PC08) of Ho Chi Minh City Police blocked off the Thu Thiem Tunnel, heading from District 1 to Thu Duc City, to handle the incident.
The fire was extinguished shortly after, and the damaged vehicle was removed by authorities. The fire caused traffic congestion from District 1 to Thu Duc City.
At 7:25 p.m., the tunnel door was opened and traffic in the area gradually stabilized. The cause of the fire is being clarified by authorities.
