Mama Antula is the first Argentine saint: what she did and what her miracles were
María Antonia de Paz y Figueroabetter known as Mama Antula, was canonized by Pope Francis in the Vatican today and became the first Argentine saint in history.
The Church confirmed that Mama Antula performed at least two miracles, after being beatified in 2016, for which she was canonized this Sunday worthy of veneration throughout the entire planet.
Mama Antula produced her first miracle in 1905 when she cured Sister Vanina Rosa of the Daughters of the Divine Saviorwhich was in a bad state and improved after María Antonia de Paz y Figueroa intervened.
Secondly, the now saint managed to heal a man who suffered a cardiovascular accident (CVA) in Santa Fe, after praying to Mama Antula to get better. “They prayed to María Antonia and the miracle of her healing occurred. The clinical history was sent to Rome to be evaluated by nine different doctors from other parts of the world,” explained historian Graciela Ojeda de Río in statements to Télam.
The doctors found no explanation or scientific reasons for the healing of this man who suffered the stroke. That is why Mama Antula was beatified in 2016 in Santiago del Estero by Pope Francis and today she was made a saint.
