Canceling Michael Chandler’s opponent, Conor McGregor is accused of being an old boxer

JAKARTA – UFC boss Dana White quipped Conor McGregor who canceled facing Michael Chandler. He said that The Notorious – Conor McGregor’s nickname – was an old boxer and would not fight again, considering that he was approaching 40 years old.

Initially, Conor McGregor was scheduled to fight against Michael Chandler in the main duel of UFC 303 on June 29 2024. Unfortunately, the fight was cancelled. This makes Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazka the main duel.

In fact, the fight against Michael Chandler was Conor McGregor’s comeback, where the 35 year old man last appeared in the Octagon in 2021. On that occasion, McGregor was defeated by Dustin Poirier.

Dana White then said that Conor McGregor would be 36 years old on July 14, 2024. He admitted that he doubted that Conor McGregor would fight again with the amount of money he has.

“Conor will be 36 years old in July,” said Dana White, quoted from MMA Junkie, Tuesday (18/6/2024).

“He has a lot of money and I never thought that a guy like that would fight again. Maybe not,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dana White said that injuries would be easy for a fighter who is no longer young. However, he believes that Conor McGregor could return to fight in the UFC if he was still young, hungry for competition and experiencing bankruptcy.

“The other thing about getting old, like a racehorse, is that you get hurt more easily. You get hurt more easily, you get more injuries than when you were young, and you’re less willing to go out there injured than when you were young, hungry , and went bankrupt,” said Dana.
