Canada and Great Britain recognized Palestine

Canada and Great Britain have officially declared recognition of a Palestinian state. These are the first G7 countries to make such a decision. The announcements by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney were made almost simultaneously. Both leaders believe that this step will bring closer the implementation of the “two states” concept, Liter.kz reports with reference to BILD.

We are talking about the creation of an independent Palestinian state, which must coexist with Israel. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu categorically rejects this scenario. According to him, recognition of Palestine would be a threat to Israel and would actually “reward” Hamas for the attack on October 7, 2023.

“Canada recognizes the state of Palestine and offers its partnership to build a peaceful future for both Palestine and Israel,” said Mark Carney.

Official recognition will take place next week during the UN General Assembly session in New York. According to media reports, France, Belgium and New Zealand may take a similar step in the near future.

At the same time, the United States and Germany are not yet ready to support recognition.
