Angola became runner-up in African futsal after losing, this Sunday, to hosts Morocco, 1-5, in the final game, played at the Salle Palais des sports Pavilion, in Rabat.
The Angolans’ goal of honor was scored in the seventh minute by Adérito, at a time when the national team was losing 0-1.
Against the now three-time continental champion, the Angolans were trailing at half-time, by 1-3, but the opponent’s experience was greater than the willingness of Marcos Antunes’ pupils throughout the match.
With this unprecedented second place, Angola guaranteed its presence in the 10th edition of the World Championship, taking place from September 14th to October 6th, in Uzbekistan.
It was Angola’s fourth participation in a CAN, after its presence in the editions of Libya 2008, South Africa (2016) and Morocco (2020). In the latter, he won the bronze medal (third place).
For its part, Libya achieved third place after a 4-1 victory over Egypt on penalties, as a result of a 1-1 draw in regular time.
The Libyan team also guarantees qualification for the 2024 World Cup. MC
