The Ficvaldivia Industry Space, Austral Encounters, opens its call for the Chilean Cinema Program of the 2025 future, an initiative that will allow the selected projects to receive an advice process with filmmakers and film professionals, both national and international. The program is aimed at Chilean audiovisual works – fiction and non -fiction – that are in full development or in the completion stage.
Finishing projects may receive monetary awards as well as postproduction services. In addition, this year the Internationalization Award is maintained, open to the two categories, which will allow one of the projects to attend an international market.
The advice will have specialized focus on script and assembly. Developing projects and films in completion will have an advice process that will begin in August and end at the end of the year.
Audiovisual industry
Chilean cinema of the future in a program organized by the Ficvaldivia, funded by the Audiovisual Development Fund of the Ministry of Cultures Los Arts and El Heritage and develops collaboratively together with the Frontera Sur Festival and its FS_LAB training space, Bolivia Lab, Cinemachile and CCDOC. The program is sponsored by atomic and we sound.
On the importance of generating industry spaces for Chilean cinema, the director of Southern Encounters, Tehani Staiger, argues that “cinema is a collective activity, which achieves its best team expression, so it is so important to promote collaboration in the initial stages of the projects.”
“The Chilean cinema of the future allows the filmmakers to talk, together with their already outstanding peers of international industry professionals, about their ideas, projects, strategies and objectives. This occurs within the framework of the same festival, so for an intense week, here they can be heard, share experiences and see an excellent programming. That is why the projects enter in a way and come out otherwise and more.”
Prizes 2025
This year Chilean cinema of the future has the following awards:
Internationalization Award
It consists of an economic support of $ 3,500,000 for the selected project to participate in an international market. The market will be defined together between the organization of the program and the project team.
