A former Meta engineer shot his wife, killed his 4-year-old twin boys and then killed himself inside their California home.
Anand Sujith Henry, 37, allegedly killed his sons and fatally shot his 38-year-old wife, Alice Benzinger in a bathtub, then turned the gun on himself.
The couple was found dead inside the home with gunshot wounds next to a 9mm handgun and a loaded magazine inside one of the home’s bathrooms. Their two sons were found dead in a bedroom.
The cause of death of the two young children is not known, but it is believed that the unfortunate children were either drowned, strangled or given a fatal overdose because there were no signs of injury on their bodies.
The motive for the deaths remains unclear as officers continue their investigation.
Based on the information we have at this time, it appears that this is an isolated incident with no risk to the public, as we are confident that the man was inside the house,” the police chief said, noting that there were no signs of a break-in.
“The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather evidence, speak with witnesses and family members and determine a possible motive.”
Court documents revealed that Henry, a former software director at both Meta and Google, had filed for divorce in December 2016. But the divorce was never finalized and the couple moved in 2020 to their home in San Mateo, California. Neighbors said they saw a friendly couple and a happy family.
“Before the babies were born, we used to see the husband and wife just taking a walk while she was pregnant,” said a neighbor.
