Cairo calls on Washington to intensify pressure on Israel and warns of the dangers of the Gaza war on Egypt’s national security

Egypt – Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs Hazem Fahmy discussed with the US Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of National Security Advisor Curtis Reed the situation in Gaza and the challenge facing Egyptian national security.

The meeting took place at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday. Director of the Palestine Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kamel Jalal, participated in it.

Fahmy discussed the Israeli war on Gaza and its extremely dangerous regional repercussions and Egyptian national security, calling for the United States to put more pressure on Israel.

He expressed Egypt’s deep regret over the United States’ use of its veto power for the third time in the Security Council, highlighting the grave violations of international humanitarian law committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and their grave humanitarian consequences.

Fahmy stressed the need to put pressure on Israel, which is obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, stressing the importance of supporting the international system based on rules.

He also addressed the challenge facing Egyptian national security and regional geopolitical developments and their repercussions on Egypt and the Middle East region, reviewing Egyptian efforts to deal with these challenges.

Ambassador Fahmy stressed the importance of reaching an immediate ceasefire, especially after the death of more than 30,000 Palestinian people, and the necessity of fully respecting human rights and international humanitarian law and not dealing with human rights issues through double standards.
