By Ramadan, the King of Morocco directs sending aid to Gaza and Jerusalem

Rabat – Moroccan King Mohammed VI directed, yesterday, Tuesday, the sending of relief aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip and the city of Jerusalem, coinciding with the advent of the month of Ramadan, which begins today in the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, “Moroccan King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee (affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), gave his instructions to launch a humanitarian operation by directing food aid, by land, for the benefit of the Palestinian population in Gaza and the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.”

She explained that the assistance ordered by the Moroccan king to the residents of Gaza includes more than 40 tons of food, including basic foodstuffs.

This aid, which coincides with the advent of the month of Ramadan, comes to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian population, especially the most vulnerable groups, according to the same source.

The Ministry pointed out that the King sponsored a large portion of the assistance provided from his own funds, especially that directed to infants and young children.

She added that, in more than 5 months, Morocco has been the first country to transfer its humanitarian aid via this unprecedented land route (Rafah Crossing), and deliver it directly to the beneficiary population.

The King also issued instructions to provide food assistance to the residents of Jerusalem, which includes distributing 2,000 food baskets benefiting 2,000 Jerusalemite families, and providing 1,000 meals daily for the benefit of the Palestinians in the city.

The ministry added that the assistance also includes establishing an emergency coordination room at Al-Quds Hospital.

He considered that this humanitarian operation comes to confirm the actual commitment and permanent interest of the King in the Palestinian issue.

As the Israeli war on Gaza enters its sixth month, the suffering of the residents of the Strip, especially the northern and central regions, is exacerbated as a result of a strict siege that has made food so scarce that they are on the verge of real famine.

In an attempt to remedy the crisis, Arab and foreign countries continue their cooperation to airdrop aid into the northern areas of the Gaza Strip, but it remains insufficient and does not meet the urgent needs of the Palestinians.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip with American support, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice. Charged with “genocide.”
