Businessmen call for setting up special tourism centers – 2024-04-30 12:39:14

To attract foreign tourists, the businessmen and entrepreneurs of this sector have called for the establishment of special tourism centers in the country on the model of special economic zones. Along with this, businessmen have given special importance to coastal tourism, night-life tourism, development of eco-tourism including diversification of tourism, ensuring tourism-friendly environment, strengthening service quality and security.

These issues came up in the first meeting of the Standing Committee on ‘Civil Aviation and Tourism’ at FBCCI Icon on Sunday (April 28). Abul Kalam chairman of that standing committee. FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam was present as the chief guest in the program presided over by Abu Raihan. FBCCI director Sujeev Ranjan Das served as director-in-charge of the committee. FBCCI Vice President Khairul Huda Chapal, Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarkar, Md. Munir Hossain, Directors of FBCCI, Co-Chairman of the Committee and members and business leaders.

In the chief guest’s speech at the meeting, FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam said that the contribution of tourism sector to the country’s GDP is only 3.3 percent. In addition to expanding domestic tourism, the contribution of this sector to the economy can be multiplied by diversifying tourism products and services including community tourism, eco-tourism, coastal tourism.

He also said that there are several challenges in getting foreign tourists. Visa complications in particular are an important issue. Along with removing visa complications, improving the communication system in tourist centers, improving the quality of service, ensuring security and strengthening the branding of Bangladesh as a tourist destination.

He called for specific recommendations in written form to the members of the committee for the sustainable development of the tourism sector.

Before attracting foreign tourists, the entrepreneurs of this sector should focus on satisfying the local tourists with quality services, FBCCI Vice President Md. Munir Hossain. He said, have we been able to satisfy the local tourists? In order to attract foreign tourists, the satisfaction of local tourists must be ensured first. He also commented that there is no alternative to complying with the compliances of this sector to increase the quality of service.

In the open discussion of the meeting, adoption of regional planning based on tourism, increase in the number of airports, development of communication and traffic system at tourist centers, facilitation of visa system and ticket booking, industry-academia bridging to create skilled manpower, development of regional tourism, development of souvenir products, promotional The members of the committee put forward several proposals including strengthening activities, strengthening security, allocating budget for tourism development, increasing the use of smart technology in tourism services, introducing adequate money changers or money exchange services in tourist centers, simplifying e-visa and on-arrival visa.
