Moroccan international referee Bouchra Karboub announced yesterday, Tuesday, her decision to permanently retire from the field of arbitration after a career that lasted 25 years, during which she represented the Kingdom of Morocco in various international and continental forums.
In her letter addressed to the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Karboub confirmed that she “finds herself today surrounded by practices by the Director of the National Technical Directorate of Arbitration and its members that have confused the course of action, disrupted previous and expected achievements, and even put an end to the project.” This is what prompted her to make the decision to retire, after a quarter of a century of giving.
The Moroccan International Wisdom stated that the university’s support has always been a blessing for her throughout her career, saying: “I achieved this honor thanks to the efforts you are making to serve the country. Your support from the beginning of my journey has been the best guide for my career.”
Karboub concluded with a strong message to those who harmed her: “O you who have harmed us so often, do not rest assured, for you are present in every prostration and in every prayer, and God will judge between us and He is the best of judges, and God is sufficient for me and He is the best disposer of affairs.”
Bouchra Karboub’s decision to retire came after she was recently excluded from officiating professional section matches, and from participating in the Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
Last year, the Moroccan wisdom was crowned the best African female judge for the year 2024, during the Confederation of African Football awards ceremony in Marrakesh. In recognition of her brilliance in leading a group of matches in various continental competitions, whether in the African Cup of Nations finals or in the African Champions League, as well as during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the Women’s World Cup in Australia.
