Burst package causes stampede at airport

Tourists caused a stampede at the Koltsovo airport in Yekaterinburg due to a loud bang, Liter.kz reports with reference to Tourdom.ru.

According to media reports, tourists who arrived early in the morning of August 6 from abroad to Koltsovo found themselves in a bit of a commotion. When passengers from several international flights were standing in line for passport control, a loud bang was heard in the room. As was later established, someone had burst a bag. However, in the first seconds, those present thought something completely different:

“Some smart guy shouted ‘Bomb!’, others started saying that there was shooting, and people ran through the booths to the exit, panicking and losing their things, documents, bags, shoes, purchases,” said a girl who returned to the Urals from Antalya.

A huge crush began in the passport control area. According to tourists, panic was not limited to the arrivals area.

“We were woken up by a capsule hotel employee shouting, ‘They’re shooting!’ We ran out of the airport barefoot without our things,” the tourists said.

In Koltsovo, the fact of the incident about the sudden crush that broke out was confirmed.

“Border Service officers resolved the situation within a few minutes. The competent authorities are clarifying the circumstances of the incident. The airport is operating normally,” the statement said.
