Youth and Family Support Center (GADEM), established by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality to combat substance addiction, continues its awareness-raising activities.

Operating under the Metropolitan Municipality Health Affairs Department, GADEM continues its work to ensure that the effective fight against addiction in society is sustained. A stand was set up in the City Square, one of the busiest points of the city, within the scope of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. In order to raise awareness, information was provided to the people of Bursa about the activities carried out in the fight. At the stand, where information brochures were also distributed, attention was drawn to the issue of addiction, which is a great danger especially for young people.

Mehmet Emin Direkçi, Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality, visited the stand set up in the City Square and chatted with the citizens, receiving information from the authorities. Stating that GADEM carries out important work for the benefit of society, Direkçi explained that great struggles are being made to restore the addicted individual to his former health. Stating that addiction occurs at a very young age, Direkçi said, “We must keep our young people away from harmful substances. We must drain the swamp. The most important task in the fight falls on the individual and the families. We must follow our children closely and communicate with them constantly. Teachers in schools, people in business life, surround themselves well.” “Our police department is also carrying out important work on this issue. We must eliminate easy access to harmful substances.
