Bumi Resources CSR Program Supports Community Independence

JAKARTA – PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) implements the program Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support community independence. BUMI not only focuses on providing assistance but is also committed to supporting community empowerment so that they are ready to prosper independently.

“We have been carrying out CSR activities since 2001. Our activities focus on Environment Social Governance (ESG) or Environment, Social and Governance. We have a community of between 200,000 and 300,000 people that we support,” said BUMI President Director, Adika Nuraga Bakrie in a written statement, Saturday (11/5/2024).

He explained the form of BUMI’s contribution, apart from providing the basic things for a good and healthy life, as well as preparing the community in the long term to reduce dependence on assistance provided by the company.

“We are trying to create opportunities, ensuring that the beneficiaries have good jobs, a healthy environment, have improved skills or even have new skills. We weave a scenario so that when the company finishes mining coal in the next 20 or 30 years, they can still maintain be yourself, be progressive, and have an open mind,” he explained.

BUMI’s concrete commitment to supporting long-term independent community welfare, includes the Community-Based Waste Management Assistance Program and the Mangrove Rehabilitation Program which not only creates socio-economic value for the community, but also provides a positive impact on the environment.

Meanwhile, in the education sector, since 2019, BUMI has been actively managing the School Digitalization Program and various other activities. Together with PT Kaltim Prima Coal as its business unit, BUMI also embraces community empowerment around mining operational locations, for example through livestock business development programs, the Resilient UKM Program, and the Independent Village Program based in Sangatta, East Kalimantan.

In addition, through another subsidiary, namely PT Arutmin Indonesia, BUMI distributes education funds, provides various training and health education.
