As if a decade had passed between the two stories. At the same time, the films entitled Kamarád do dešte are only four years apart, but each was created under completely different conditions. The first was released in the normalization year of 1988, the second premiered in 1992, 30 years ago on October 1. Director Jaroslav Soukup (75) offered the audience of the early 90s a double sequel to his hits, Disco story 2 (1991) and another action by Michal and Tomáš in this one with the subtitle Story from Brooklyn.

“Already the first script was written directly on the bodies of the selected actors. In addition to Lukáš and Sagvan, also to Karl August,” revealed the director, who then also had a script ready for the third part of Friends, when Karel Augusta (†62) died. The director decided not to continue without Kadlec. At number two, however, Vaculík was said to have flooded him a bit at two. He had reservations about the script. In the end, however, the adventures of the heroes in the early days of Czech capitalism saw the light of day and were once again a hit. Temporarily. Today, none of the films excite young viewers, but for their parents they remain a reminder of the time in which they grew up. And also that with a really good friend you can handle any problem.

What friends are talking about
Friends Michal Sudek (Sagvan Tofi58) and Tomáš Mráz (Lukáš Vaculík, 60) run the Brooklyn discotheque. Just at the time when the fraudster Kadlec (Karel Augusta, †62) is leaving prison, the attractive Ivana (Simona Krainová). Michal is subsequently accused of rape, drugs appear in the bar. Kadlec and his son-in-law Bureš (Andrej Hryc†71) have not yet said the last word and they want to make it count to their rivals!

Krainová was saved by Ljuba Krbová
The director chose the only 19-year-old beauty Simona Krainová from among the models of the Czech models agency, even though she had no experience in front of the camera. Actress Ljuba Krbová (64) finally saved her character in the film, acting and dialogues. Krainová, speaking with a strong Ostrava accent, overdubbed. Just as a year earlier in Disco story 2, she voiced the character of Lucie (Veronika Kánská, 55). Krbová’s voice sounded softer and thanks to her skill and professionalism she lifted both characters.
