BSP supremo Mayawati criticized Karnataka’s reservation decision

New Delhi New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati on Friday posted on her social media account X the decision taken by the Congress government of Karnataka on July 17 to provide reservation in administrative and non-administrative posts in the state. In her post, she wrote, “The decision of the Congress government of Karnataka to provide 50 percent reservation in administrative posts and 75 percent reservation in non-administrative posts in private companies is much more than a dispute of right and wrong.” Apart from this, she said, “The decision to withdraw under pressure from industrialists is due to their being supporters of rich people like BJP. This withdrawal is a new proof of this.”

On July 17, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah put the reservation in the private sector, organisations, industries and enterprises on hold soon after it was released. According to him, the bill will be revisited and a decision will be taken in the coming days. “The bill approved by the Cabinet to provide reservation for Kannadigas in the private sector, organisations, industries and enterprises is still in the preparation stage. Extensive discussions will be held in the next Cabinet meeting to take a final decision,” Siddaramaiah posted on Twitter. Bharatiya Janata Party leader CT Ravi termed the stay as “drama” and said the atmosphere in the state is against the CM and the Congress government. “All this is drama to divert the issue. The atmosphere is against the CM and the Congress government. This is what they are doing to divert people from the issue: Kannada schools are going to be closed in the state, they should have thought about this first. Why are the schools being closed? They are not doing anything about this,” the BJP leader told ANI. (ANI)
