Brunette loses Chilpancingo: give constancy of majority to Alejandro Arcos as mayor-elect

CHILPANCINGO (apro).- With the support of Mayor Norma Otilia Hernández and commissioners from the Sierra and Valle del Ocotito, the PRI, PAN and PRD candidate, Alejandro Arcos Catalán, took the Chilpancingo City Council from Morena.

This Thursday afternoon, District Council 02 of the Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute based in Chilpancingo delivered the certificate of majority to PRD member Alejandro Arcos Catalán, which accredits him as the elected mayor of Chilpancingo, the state capital.

It was a close vote that was reduced to a difference of 1,705 votes between first and second place.

The standard bearer of the Fuerza y ​​Corazón por México (PAN-PRI-PRD) coalition, Alejandro Arcos, added 48,658 votes in the count of electoral districts 01 and 02 of Chilpancingo, while the candidate of the Let’s Continue Making History alliance ( Morena-PT-Verde), Jorge Salgado Parra, 46 thousand 953.

The day before the district counting of the votes began. Outside the headquarters, hundreds of residents from at least 30 communities in the Petaquillas corridor and the Ocotito Valley stood up to demand that the triumph of Arcos Catalán be recognized.

Campaigning is prohibited

Candidate Jorge Salgado Parra knew the risk of campaigning in the communities of the Ocotito Valley, an area controlled by crime. However, on Sunday, April 21, he went to El Ocotito to hold a rally.

Three days later, the candidate’s official and promoter was found dead at his home located in that community. The authorities reported that it had been an alleged robbery and that the official was murdered with a knife.

On May 9, in the middle of the campaign, the representative of the PT before the INE, Marco Antonio Barrera, denounced that when promoters of the vote for Jorge Salgado Parra, candidate of Let’s Keep Making History, were heading to the Ocotito Valley, they were intercepted by armed civilians. near the town of Mazatlán.

The PT revealed that the promoters were intimidated and told that they did not have permission to campaign in the area.

Two weeks later, on May 22, the Citizen Movement candidate for the municipal presidency, businessman Víctor Manuel Toledo, assured that the only candidate who could campaign in the Ocotito Valley area and parts of the mountains was the standard bearer. of the PRI, PAN AND PRD alliance, Alejandro Arcos Catalán.

“Only he has authorization. We would like to ask for the vote of the communities with the largest population such as Tepechicotlán, Petaquillas, Mazatlán and El Ocotito. I hope they have the freedom to decide, because in small communities the vote will be coerced,” he said.

In the midst of accusations and the announcement of two investigations for her alleged links with organized crime by the state prosecutor’s office and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, the mayor who aspired to the Senate candidacy for Morena was relegated by the now reelected senator Félix Salgado and his daughter the governor, Evelyn Salgado.

His political capital was also rejected by Jorge Salgado Parra, candidate of Senator Félix Salgado.

Norma Otilia responded by sending her political team to operate in favor of the PRI, PAN and PRD candidate. Her sister and former president of the municipal DIF, Magdalena Hernández Martínez, appeared at the start of Alejandro Arcos’ campaign.

And she warned that Morena would need her to win in Chilpancingo.

In light of the victory of the PRD Alejandro Arcos, Norma Otilia Hernández stated that the result was the responsibility of the candidate and his political team.

The two local councils of Chilpancingo were won by the coalition led by Morena.
