Shelly Bobritsky and Ariel Nashi made history this evening (Wednesday) after winning Israel’s first ever bronze medal in the free duet final at the European Artistic Swimming Championships. About a month and a half before the Olympic Games, where the two will participate, they presented a great exercise that gave them the third place with 245.6105 points. The Dutch pair won the gold medal with 264.6584 points and the British with the silver medal (261.0313).
As you may remember, Bobritzky and Nasi, rose yesterday from third place in the qualifiers with 238.0645 points and this time they got a higher score. This is the first time that Israel has won a medal in the duet exercise at the European Championships, after three times Israel has won a medal in the group exercise. Today, Matan Roditi finished in 13th place in the 10 km breaststroke at the European Open Water Championships being held in Belgrade. Roditi, who will represent Israel in this breaststroke at the Olympic Games in Paris in about a month and a half, set a time of 1:50:46.4 hours, after being in the first round Throughout almost the entire race, however, he weakened a little in the last kilometer. Two more Israelis participated in the race: Yonatan Akhdot finished in 27th place (2:01:14.0) and Ziv Cohen in 28th place (2:03:54.2).
Eva Fabian set a record achievement for Israeli female swimmers in the 10 km breaststroke at the European Championships, after finishing in 14th place overall (out of 26 participants). The 30-year-old Fabian swam excellently and smartly, was at the front most of the stroke and finished in a time of 2:01 :40.5 hours. Two other Israeli swimmers participated in the race: 18-year-old Ofek Adir finished in 23rd place (2:10:44.1) and Eden Girloenza finished tenth after her in 24th place (2:10:44.2).
