Broky debuted in the world individual rankings, which includes the year’s top 20 players, two years ago, when he finished 20th. In 2022 he set a new record and was recognized as the sixth best player in the world. Broky is now included in the annual ranking for the third time in a row.
In the 2023 ranking, the Latvian eSports player’s position is lower than a year ago and he was named the tenth best player of the year.
Last year, Broky won four high-level tournaments together with the “FaZe” team, and with the victory in the spring of the “Pro League Season 17” he completed the achievement of the “Grand Slam”, in which most of the work it was already done in 2022.
“FaZe” had a great start in the new CS2 era: Broky’s team participated in five tournaments, winning three and reaching the final in two. Broky distinguished himself with the EVP award in the two tournaments he won, which he had previously also won at the Paris Major, the biggest tournament of the year, where his team stopped in the quarterfinals.
“My goal in 2024 would be to make sure the team doesn’t have so many games where you might have a heart attack,” Saukanth told HLTV. “As a team, 2023 was a good year for us, some tournament wins and several good play-offs, but it is always possible to do better. On the other hand, personally I would aim to become more disciplined. Personally, 2023 was a good year for us. one of the worst years for me, thinking about mental and physical health.”
According to HLTV, Broky earned tenth place with his merits in FaZe victories, in which he was considered one of the most important players, as well as with individual achievements: five EVP (“Extremely Valuable Player”) awards, in addition, Broky he finished second in two tournaments with MVP voting.
“I think staying in 10th place is too low for me. I’m aiming for first place, but there’s always the possibility of doing it next year,” Broky told HLTV.
HLTV gradually announces the top 20 players of the year, naming the next place winner each day. In addition to Broky’s tenth place, there are nine other bests left to be named, but at the moment it can be predicted with some certainty that this year there will be no other Latvian CS2 eSports player Mareka YEKINDAR Galinska, whose team represented ” Liquid” has had a year full of changes.
YEKINDAR was previously named the 8th best player in 2021 and the 15th best player in 2022.
