British Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson (64), has received another cancer diagnosis. After the Duchess of York was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer in the summer, she has now been diagnosed with skin cancer, her spokesperson told Britain’s PA news agency and other media on Sunday evening. Her dermatologist had several of her moles removed and examined when she underwent reconstructive surgery after her mastectomy (removal of breast tissue). “And one of them was identified as cancerous,” she read in the statement.
He is undergoing further tests to ensure the disease was detected at an early stage. “Of course, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer is shocking, but the Duchess remains in good spirits.”
Announcement of the third illness within a few days
In the space of a few days it is the third news of an illness among the royals. Last week it became known that Princess Kate would be out for a longer period due to abdominal surgery. King Charles III is being treated in hospital for an enlarged prostate.
Ferguson was previously married to Charles’ brother Andrew. At Christmas she was unexpectedly present at the royal family’s joint service at the country estate of Sandringham in eastern England.
He wanted to thank the entire medical team, especially his dermatologist, whose vigilance ensured that the disease was detected, read the statement cited by the Palestinian Authority and other media. He believes his experience highlights the importance of controlling size, shape, color and consistency, as well as the appearance of new moles.
