British Man Swears, Spits at Muslim Bus Driver in London

LONDON – A man was caught on camera hurling Islamophobic abuse and spitting at a Muslim bus driver in London, Anadolu Agency reported.

The Documenting Oppression Against Muslims (DOAM) group shared the video on Thursday (8/8/2024), describing it as, “Racist thugs harassing a Muslim driver in London.”

The video shows the man repeatedly shouting “Muslim terrorist” at the bus driver, while swearing.

He also forced the driver to get off the bus while he was seen spitting and hitting the bus’s protective glass.

The incident came as Britain has been gripped by days of chaos, with violent right-wing rioters spewing racist and Islamophobic abuse targeting Muslims, minority groups and immigrants.

The unrest was sparked by false claims spread online that the suspect arrested over the stabbing deaths of three children in Southport on July 29 was a Muslim asylum seeker.

Authorities have identified the attacker as Axel Rudakubana, a 17-year-old born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents. But that has done little to deter the far-right mob from carrying out the attack.

As of August 8, a total of 483 people had been arrested, while 149 charges had been laid in connection with the riots in cities across the UK.
