The latest images of the “Yeni Hatay Stadium”, where the Turkish “Hatayspor” club played their home games until a year ago, were published on social networks.
Publika.az reports that after the terrible earthquake that occurred in the region on February 6 of last year, the arena became unusable. The current state of the stadium is heartbreaking. Wild plants have already appeared on the square. Although no damage was recorded in the sports facility during the earthquake, a number of problems arose after it was left unused.
Therefore, “Hatayspor” had to play the current season’s home games in Mersin.
We regret to note that the last match at “Yeni Hatayspor” stadium took place a year ago – on February 5. The local team “Kasımpaşa” received and defeated – 1:0. The author of the only goal in the meeting was Christian Atsu, who would become a victim of the earthquake a few hours later.
The Ghanaian football player had to leave “Hatayspor” and the city after that game. However, after the goal he scored, he lost his mind and became a victim of tragedy that night.
