The governing “non-coalition” is far from the rotation, although the deadline is approaching. This was stated by the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov. The main reason was “the many stories from colleagues“, he commented. Statements are made every day and new red lines are drawn, added the former prime minister.
Let us not be pawns
The leader of GERB tried to explain that the parliamentary group will not vote for changes in the government on a general basis, but only if they are convinced by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and Maria Gabriel, with whom they have to exchange posts.
“Our MPs are not pawns, pawns to vote in some way. When Denkov and Gabriel come and convince us that we should vote, then we will votehe stated.
The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister are in Munich, and according to Borisov, the time would be used to talk about the upcoming changes.
In fact, the main dispute between GERB and PP-DB is about the Foreign Ministry. Borisov’s party insists on keeping this department. However, Denkov also wants the post.
GERB also do not like Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev and want him to be replaced.
“They were caught in the sports ministry with tens of thousands of BGN in bribes, and when they tell me that they are for the cleaning lady – I am not at all naive to believe that it is so, and they must bear political responsibility. A little later, Nikola Minchev from the PP-DB commented on Borisov’s statement, stating that the PP-DB is not considering the option of no rotation, because it is pointless to discard the compromise made 9 months ago.
“Having a government in this format is the best that Bulgaria can have at this stage. I call on all politicians to be responsible so that the rotation happens smoothly”said the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
Minchev said that he is counting on Nikolay Denkov and Maria Gabriel to agree on parameters that will be acceptable to absolutely everyone. He clarified that Nikolay Denkov has carte blanche to negotiate with Maria Gabriel, and what was agreed upon will be considered by the PP-DB.
Minchev also commented on the topic with the foreign minister, which is causing a dispute between the partners in the administration.
“The foreign minister should be from our coalition, but we leave the job to Denkov and Gabriel”he stated.
