“Borios” lands in Casablanca – Worldys News

The “Damlij Troupe for Cultures and Arts” announced that it is preparing to present its new theatrical show “Borios” on Tuesday evening, August 13, at 7:00 PM at the cultural complex on Abdullah Al-Sanhaji Street in Casablanca.

The troupe explained that this show comes after it was able to present more than 13 theatrical performances, and participate in several national festivals, most notably the fourth session of the Amateur Theater Festival in Marrakech last May, where it won the Best Theatrical Text Award for Abdel Majid Saad Allah, as well as the eighth session of the Obour Theater Festival in the city of Tan Tan in March 2023. It also participated in the theater nights of Sidi Bernoussi District during the month of April 2023.

Ayyoub Benhabash, the artistic director of the troupe, said that “Borios” is “a psychological dramatic play that deals with aspects of the human psyche and reflects the reality of feelings and emotions through the path of a quest for two people. In addition, it is a spiritual journey in which opposites, light/darkness, truth/imagination, and good/evil, oscillate. The goal of the play’s hero (Melody) is to meet his wife (Rhab), and the goal of his friend and spiritual companion is to treat Melody’s illness from psychological and imaginary disorder.” He pointed out that “the play “Borios” is considered experimental in its script writing, and experimental in its directorial vision, which was developed by director Sami Saadallah.”

He added, “The play is a spiritual journey through the Moroccan cultural heritage through the use of Gnawa music, Hadra, clothing, everything spiritual, body language, and expressive movements emanating from the actor’s subconscious, in addition to evoking the theme of sorcery through the character of “Rhab” and the evil it carries.”

“The play, in its well-woven philosophical drama, deals with the search for the truth, or rather a journey into an unknown world, a journey in search of an invisible woman,” he continued, noting that “Al-Melodi, who suffers from a psychological and delusional disorder, wants to search for his wife, Rahab, and his daughter, and his friend Al-Nourani will help him in this search, as they will encounter several difficulties and surprises.”

It is worth mentioning that the play was written by Abdelmajid Saadallah, directed and scenographed by Sami Saadallah, along with assistant director Ayoub Benhabash. It was performed by Mohamed Bennan, Zakaria Hasni, Mehdi Ladri, and Sami Saadallah, while the artistic direction was handled by Ayoub Benhabash, lighting and music design by Tawfiq Belkhedher, costumes and accessories by Jamila Maslouhi, general conservation by Saeed Baish, documentation and photography by Tariq Mustaqim, lighting technician by Elias Moutan, and poster and communication design by Yasmina Chraibi.
