Boranbayev spoke about new stars of Kazakhstani sports

The President of the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan Kairat Boranbayev spoke about the athletes who competed in the Summer Paralympics in Paris, Liter.kz reports.

The head of the Paralympic movement said that he highly appreciates the performance of Kazakhstanis in Paris 2024, both athletes who won medals and para-athletes who showed high results but were left without awards.

“I think that I am not the only one with positive impressions. We are all very happy with the results of our Paralympians. They exceeded all expectations, and we can be proud of them. They deserved that we are proud of their achievements. For the first time at the Paralympics, we have one of the best results – nine medals. But even those athletes who did not win medals still performed well. Many of them exceeded their personal records,” Boranbayev said.

Speaking about new stars of Paralympic sports, Boranbaev noted champion Akmaral Nauatbek, who defeated a local athlete in the final of the Paris Paralympics.

“Expectations were high, and she lived up to them completely. She showed incredible willpower and skill, winning the gold medal. This is very important not only for us, but also for her personally, because she has been working towards this for many years. Akmaral has vision problems, and some people wonder: how is she different from healthy athletes? The fact is that she has very poor eyesight, and this limitation does not allow her to compete in categories with healthy athletes. Her eyesight has been deteriorating since she was 11, and this imposed certain restrictions on her career, but she continued to train and achieved this success. There are many moments worth noting. For example, Yergali Shamey won silver in parajudo. It was a very tense fight, he showed willpower until the end. I would also like to mention our swimmer without arms – Siyazbek Daliyev, who broke the Asian record in 100 meters and took second place in the selection. The Paralympic record of Nurdaulet Zhumagali stands apart. Such incredible results show that our athletes are capable of overcoming any obstacles,” noted Kairat Boranbayev.

He noted that the performance of the Paralympians in Paris 2024 strengthens the athletes’ spirit and self-confidence, and also increases the attention of Kazakhstanis to the problems of people with disabilities.
