«The Zero of Forms». Art, Technology and History is a selection of texts that has as its central theme the political, philosophical and aesthetic challenges of a present that is increasingly intertwined with technological development. The dichotomy between subject and object, the semantic indeterminacy underlying the time-money relationship, metadata in the context of platform capitalism, the creative possibilities of Artificial Intelligence and the emancipatory strategies of xenofeminism are some of the problems addressed in these writings, pointing out new approaches and theoretical points of view that lucidly expose what we understand as the digital sphere in the contemporary world.
The texts that make up this book, by Boris Groys, Franco “Bifo” Berardi, Geert Lovink and Yuk Hui, Tivon Rice and Lesia Prokopenko, were selected and translated by the Department of Media Studies (www.dem.cl), and come from the digital magazines e-flux and the defunct Strelka Mag.
With this book, Alma Negra Editorial opens its collection «Futuro Anterior», aimed at thinking about the transformations of temporality and history that have been imposed as a result of the deep interconnections between capital and technology in the contemporary world. Temporality and history, and with it futures, that appear in ruins. We hope, with this and the other books that form part of the collection, to contribute to a debate about other forms of present, and thus reopen the possibilities of the future.
