Book launch “My brother Sergio”
- Ulises Bookstore, Lastarria 70, local 2.
- Friday, July 19 – 6:30 p.m..
This book by Italo Hernández talks about the Tormen brothers, professional cyclists from the 70s and 80s, specifically about Sergio, the eldest brother of the group of cyclists, who is part of the long list of missing detainees. This July 20th Sergio Tormen will have been in custody for 50 years.
“Since I was a child, I was curious to know what really happened inside the National Stadium velodrome. As a teenager, I realized that the Tormen brothers competed there (first successfully Sergio), then Richard and later Peter. All of them had different achievements, but the one most remembered by us younger ones was Peter’s undisputed triumph when he returned to Chile in 1987,” says the author.
“The most surprising thing about the interview was that the television asked him to whom he dedicated his victory. He answered very confidently to my brother Sergio. Years later, it would give rise to my deep conviction and sensitivity as a creator that a book had to be written about the Tormen brothers, especially Sergio. The son, the brother, and the friend.”
The book will be presented by Marcelo Guajardo, journalist and writer, author of “The Magic Bicycle of Sergio Krumm” (2013).
