Bomb found at entrance to Jehovah’s Witnesses hall in Austria

MADRID (EUROPA PRESS).– Austrian security forces reported the discovery of a package bomb at the entrance to a headquarters of a religious community of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Austrian city of Graz.

Authorities confirmed that in the package, found on Friday night, there was “a viable explosive.” The Police received a call at 8:30 p.m. on Friday about the presence of a “suspicious package” and after investigation it was concluded that it was a bomb that “could have caused serious damage,” according to police spokesman Markus Lamb. quoted by Austrian public television ORF. “It appears the package was intentionally placed there,” Lamb said.

The area was cordoned off and trained bomb squads and dogs were sent to the emergency response unit while fifty people were evacuated as a precaution for the religious event in which they were participating.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses expressed their satisfaction that no one was injured and stressed that the Police took this matter very seriously.

In August of last year, two devices exploded against Jehovah’s Witnesses in Leibnitz, although at the moment there is no official confirmation that there is a relationship.
