The Angola Debt and Stock Exchange (Bodiva), which will be privatized in 2022, transacts, per year, the equivalent in kwanzas of two billion dollars, a volume that could increase in the coming years, with the policies that are to be adopted by the institution.
According to the president of the Executive Committee of Bodiva, Walter Pacheco, the Exchange currently has 23 commercial banks (members) and two brokers, which mainly operate in the operationalization of Treasury Bonds (OT).
Data released by Bodiva itself, at the beginning of this year, shows that in 2020, 1.18 billion kwanzas were traded on the treasury bond market, 35% more than in 2019.
In that 12-month period, 5,512 deals were carried out, 27% more than in the previous year.
Among the planned initiatives, Walter Pacheco ensured the entry into operation of the Stock Exchange Market (MBA) in 2022
The person in charge gave this information this Wednesday, via video conference, at the International Roadshow to promote the Privatization Program (Propriv), promoted by the Ministry of Finance.
The MBA allows the negotiation of shares of purchase and sale offers, resulting in a dynamic market segment, offering investors opportunities for direct investment in the share capital of reference companies on the national scene.
This year, they intend to launch the Organized Over-the-Counter Market, which is subject to intervention by the securities market regulation authority, the Capital Markets Commission (CMC).
This market will provide a certain liquidity to public debt securities, which is not yet at the desired levels, according to the person responsible.
This initiative will follow, in 2022, the entry into operation of the Shares market, with an Initial Public Offering (IPO), which includes some companies already identified.
The companies Mota Engil (20%), Sonangalp (49.5%), TV Cabo (49.5%) and Multitel (50%), with participation from Sonangol, are among the institutions selected and determined by the Program Commission. Privatization (Propriv), for the opening of its capital on the Stock Exchange, through the Initial Public Offering.
Walter Pacheco considered, this time, Propriv as an opportunity for the Stock Exchange, where State assets and participations will be sold, such as Banco de Comércio e Industria (BCI), ENSA-Seguros de Angola, among others of national reference.
The investment process on the Stock Exchange, in Angola, for the private sector is liberalized, requiring only an operational registration.
