Boat Sinks in Bosphorus: 1 Person Missing

Yılmaz OKUR/ISTANBUL, A boat carrying 4 people and 1 dog sank in the Bosphorus on Tuesday night. While 3 people and a dog who fell into the sea were rescued by another boat, 1 person was lost at sea. The search for Emre Erdoğan (30), who was lost at sea, continues on its 2nd day.

The incident occurred around 22:00 on Tuesday off the coast of Tarabya, Sarıyer. According to the allegations, a boat carrying 4 people and 1 dog sank for an unknown reason. While 1 person disappeared when the boat sank, 3 people and the dog started swimming. At that moment, the boat captain Akın Bektaş, who was passing by a point close to the incident with his boat, heard the sounds and rescued the 3 people and the dog and took them on board. The rescued citizens and the dog were taken to shore and the police and medical teams were notified. It was learned that the health of the 3 people and the dog who were taken to shore were good, and a search operation had been launched for Emre Erdoğan, who was lost at sea.

SEARCH EFFORTS CONTINUE ON THE SECOND DAY

Coast Guard teams, Marine police and Fire Department teams are also participating in the search. Teams that could not get any results from the searches that continued throughout the day yesterday had to stop working due to darkening weather. Search efforts resumed at first light. AFAD teams are also participating in the efforts with drone cameras.
