US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Saudi Arabia, where he started his regular tour of the Middle East on the issue of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This was reported by the Reuters agency.
In Riyadh, Blinken will meet with the top leaders of Saudi Arabia, as well as his counterparts from five Arab countries: Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, to discuss the issue of implementing governance in the Gaza Strip after the end of the war.
The issue of reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave in cooperation with European countries will also be discussed.
Blinken will also discuss the regulation of relations between the kingdom and Israel with the leadership of Saudi Arabia. According to Reuters, within the framework of that deal, Washington signs agreements with Riyadh on bilateral defense and security issues, as well as nuclear cooperation.
From Riyadh, Blinken will leave for Jordan and Israel. According to the agency, Anthony Blinken will put pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take concrete and tangible steps to resolve the extremely difficult humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
On October 7, militants of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas invaded Israel, killing 1,200 people and capturing 253. About 130 hostages still remain with Hamas. Israel retaliated with military operations in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 34,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to local authorities.
