The black pearls, the name of the Angolan senior women’s handball team, arrived today (Friday), in the city of Kumamoto, Japan, where they will compete in the category’s world championship.
The national team, led by Danish coach Morten Soubak, is looking to improve on the 19th place achieved in the last edition of the competition held in Germany, in 2017.
The players Teresa Almeida “Bá”, Helena de Sousa, Amália Pinto, Janeth Santos, Vilma da Silva, Iracelma da Silva, Albertina Kassoma, Liliana Venâncio, Ruth João, Wuta Dombaxi, Aznaide Carlos are in Japan to represent the national team. “Zica”, Juliana Machado, Magda Cazanga (sides), Natália Bernardo, Isabel Guialo “Belinha” and Helena Paulo.
Angola is in group A with the teams of Serbia, against whom they will make their debut in the competition this Saturday (30), Holland, Norway, Slovenia and Cuba.
The competition that will bring together the main teams on the planet, will take place from the 30th of this month to the 15th of December, in the aforementioned city.
