The president of the United States, Joe Biden, ordered the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge this Tuesday in Baltimore and reopening the port, now blocked, as soon as possible.

“I have ordered my team to move heaven and earth to reopen the port and rebuild the bridge as soon as humanly possible,” Biden said in a speech.

The president also announced that the federal government will advance funds to pay for the reconstruction of the bridge.

We will send all the federal resources you need as we respond to this emergency. And I mean all federal resources. And we are going to rebuild this port together,” said the US president.

“My intention,” he added, “is for the federal government to pay the full cost of rebuilding that bridge. And I hope Congress supports my effort.”

Biden later clarified that the idea is that the Government advance the money until the container ship’s liability is determined.

The strategic Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed early Tuesday morning due to the impact of a cargo ship that had lost control.

There are six people missing and the port of Baltimore, one of the most important in the country, is blocked indefinitely.
