The events in Besalampy last week raise concerns about the future of the country. Involved in a case of cattle theft and kidnapping, four individuals, including three minors, were apprehended by the police in this district. On December 23, the local public security station was informed of a theft of cattle in the Andranomamenty fokontany, located 5 km from the capital of the Besalampy district, Sofia region. Setting off in pursuit of the criminals the next day, the police, supported by members of the fokonolona, managed to catch up with the two zebus stolen from the fokontany of Ampahipisaky. Having managed to escape, the thugs returned to Andranomamenty the same day. They kidnapped a 14-year-old teenager while demanding 2,000,000 ariary and the recovery of the zebus that they had already stolen and returned to the owner in exchange for their hostage. Fortunately, their maneuver failed thanks to the intervention of the police. The kidnappers were apprehended and the hostage was released unharmed.
