State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, “After killing Bangabandhu and his family in 1975, Bengali, Bengali language and history were handed over to criminals.” After Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home in 1981, Bengali, Bengali language and history became safe. The prime minister has a lot of attraction towards Bangla Academy. He inaugurated Bangla Academy book fair 21 times. Many people come and go in the government, after Bangabandhu, I have not seen such love for Bangla Academy except Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the birth centenary celebration of poet Narendranath Chakraborty at Bhasha Shahid Mukt Manch of Bangla Academy in Dhaka on Sunday (February 18).
Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that measures should be taken so that poet Narendranath Chakraborty is not lost from the new generation. Poet Narendranath Chakraborty’s works, poems, literary works should be spread to the new generation. Then homeland and country will be safe.

Poet Narendranath Chakraborty was born in 1924 in Faridpur, present day Bangladesh. Died in 2018 at the age of 94 in West Bengal. This Indian Bengali poet was also a storyteller. He is one of the modern Bengali poets. ‘Ulanga Raja’ is one of his most famous poems. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1974 for writing this book of poetry.
