Laila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, and Abdel Samad Qayyouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, held a coordination meeting devoted to discussing the prospects for practical cooperation between the two sectors in the fields of continental connection, sustainable movement, and the development of industries related to renewable energies and maritime transport.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed the meeting in Rabat yesterday, the opportunities to integrate clean energies in various transportation patterns, including road, marine, and air transport, by enhancing the use of green molecules, especially hydrogen and its derivatives, within the framework of an integrated national vision that aims to achieve a transmission towards the low carbon transport system.
The meeting also constituted an occasion to exchange visions on promising industrial capabilities in the value chains associated with the transport and energy sectors, by encouraging investment in strategic industries, such as cables, batteries, solar and wind, in a way that contributes to enhancing the industrial sovereignty of the Kingdom, and creating integrated production and distribution systems.
The two sides stressed the necessity of adopting a pragmatic and innovative approach to ensure efficiency and sustainability in downloading joint projects, while strengthening sectoral coordination mechanisms, to raise the challenges of energy transformation and modernize the transportation system.
This meeting comes in a strategic dynamic context aimed at integrating visions between the transport and energy sectors, in a way that enhances national sovereignty, and supports Morocco’s position as a regional pioneer in the green economy and sustainable development.
