“I wasn’t gone as much as I think they let me go,” Dane admitted on Friday’s episode of Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast.

“She was fiercely protective of us. She protected us publicly, she protected us privately… I love Shonda Rhimes and she protected me, but I probably got fired. It wasn’t like, ‘You’re fired,’ it was more like, ‘You’re not coming back,’” Dane recalled.
