Avengers Tower or how to build curves from square cubes
When Avengers Tower first appeared in all its glory in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, designers at the Lego Group began wondering how it would be assembled from the famous Danish bricks. The first prototype was already made then, but the Lego Group was not yet sure that the market was ready for a giant New York skyscraper covered in superheroes, so the project was put on hold.
That Marvel fans are eager for monstrous skyscrapers made of Lego bricks was verified by the Daily Bugle kit containing 3,772 bricks in 2021. That’s why last year the designers dusted off an eight-year-old model that had been left at the Group’s headquarters LEGO for all that time, and after just a few changes, the 76269 Avengers Tower kit emerged.

While the Daily Bugle was a relatively simple block-shaped structure, the designers sweated over the curves of the Avengers headquarters. Thanks to this, it also has almost 1,500 more bricks (you’ll find 269 windows in the set alone) and also contains 31 minifigures, the highest number so far among regular building kits. The building is 90cm high and inside you will find six floors where you can reproduce several iconic scenes from the film. Below the top of the tower, a landing platform protrudes from the otherwise regular plan and inside it takes place a quinjet hangar.
Duna fans finally got it
With another new item, called 10327 Duna: Atreides Royal Ornithopher, we examine the world of the Duna universe from the pen of Frank Herbert. It was based on director Denis Villneuve’s 2021 film adaptation. The set also serves as a promo for the second part, which will be released in theaters on February 29, 2024. The model consists of 1,369 parts and, with its wings spread, measures over 57 cm long, 79 cm wide and 23 cm high.

The biggest challenge for the design team was to fit different functional elements into the slim body of the machine. It is therefore not surprising that inside we mainly find well-known parts from the Technic series. One of the features is the folding of the frame, but the real star is the opening and flapping of the blades. Thanks to this, the ornithopter really resembles the dragonfly from which it was designed. The movement of the wings is controlled by a button conveniently located on the top of the model, exactly where you would naturally place your thumb when holding the ornithopter by the tail section.

The model perfectly reflects all the shapes of the original and there is also a typical color combination. In addition to the camera itself, the package also includes enough dice to build a pack of Time-Zero Supercolor SX-70 terrestrial film. It can be used to hide the 3 images provided: Polaroid inventor Edwin H. Land, the Billund LEGO house and the designer’s sisters. And what kind of instant camera would it be if it didn’t take photos? Like the original, the device can be fed with film, which is ejected by an ingenious internal mechanism when you press the shutter.
