Former Belgian defender Vincent Kompany has been appointed as the new coach by Bayern Munich. He replaces Thomas Tukhel.
According to the football website ESPN, Bayern is going to sign a contract with the company for 10 million euros. However, neither party has officially announced anything about the exchange amount yet. The German Bundesliga club is relying on the company even if it could not save Burnley from relegation in the Premier League.
Tukhel failed to win Bayern any title in the 2023-24 season. Bayern have failed to win the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2011. The German club then lost to Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Among these failures, Tukhel announced his departure from Bayern in February. The club did not discuss anything with him after that. Bayern started to think about who will replace Tukhel since February.
In this case, Bayern wanted to bring Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso and former coach Julian Nagelsmann. However, both of them intend to remain in their current roles. For that reason, Bayern chose the company after giving up hope of getting them.
Bayern Sporting Director Max Eberl said: ‘We are delighted to bring Vincent Kompany to FC Bayern. I will discuss with him and make a final agreement immediately. He clearly showed us how interested he was in the FC Bayern job.’
