The UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, called on Libyan leaders and their international partners to commit to reaching a political settlement, aimed at resolving the crisis and ending the disturbing situation in the country.
Batelli said in a statement published on Monday evening on the “X” platform following his meeting with European Union Ambassador Nicola Orlando, that “the political and moral responsibility of Libyan leaders requires that they work to meet the aspirations of their people for unified and legitimate institutions and effective management of national resources,” stressing the need to “The international community speaks with a unified voice in support of this endeavour.”
The political division and disagreements over elections between the main parties in Libya disrupted the political solution and aborted all international and international efforts aimed at converging viewpoints, as well as undermining the dream of elections.

The head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, refuses to leave his position before elections are held, and requires the existence of fair laws that allow everyone to run, while Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh demands the formation of a unified government that will manage elections in accordance with the laws approved and ratified by the 6+6 Committee, at a time when the Council adheres to The presidential elections are based on the option of national reconciliation, while a large portion of Libyans consider that conflicts and disagreements are “maneuvers and tricks” to remain in office and disrupt the elections.
