Basketball – U18 Summits: Thirty-nine teams for two titles

The U-category national basketball championships continue. The U14 summits in Mahajanga have barely finished when the tournament for under-18 basketball players began in the Atsimo Andrefana league this weekend. A total of 39 teams, including 14 girls and 25 boys, are competing during this week. Lucadro Analamanga, having put his title on the line, began his tournament with a 64-24 victory over ASE, the host team. In the boys’ competition, BCF Amoron’i Mania, the reigning champion, is the big absentee. BC Est made a strong impression right from the start, dominating Riven’s Analanjirofo 73-37. Two teams from Analamanga stood out: NBE crushed Sepa Boeny 91-56, while JCBA defeated JSB Boeny 68-49. With the other teams entering the fray, the three competition venues – the Gymnase, the Lycée Laurent Botokeky and the Don Bosco field – will be buzzing with excitement. The top three teams from each group, as well as the best fourth-place team, will play in the final phase starting this Thursday.
