Barcelona has no intention of preventing Xavi from leaving Camp Nou

BARCELONA – Barcelona Sports Director Deco stated that his team had no intention of changing plans Xavi Hernandez who will leave his team. This is also a sign that the Blaugrana – Barcelona’s nickname – will recruit a new coach.

Previously, Xavi firmly stated that he would leave Barcelona in June 2024. In fact, his contract with the team will only expire in June 2025.

Deco said it seemed like Xavi had made a final decision to leave his team at the end of the season. So, he believes that this is the basis for Barcelona not trying to change the coach’s plans

“Currently there are no plans for Xavi to change his mind. If there is, we will talk about it,” said Deco as quoted by Goal, Sunday (14/4/2024).

The man from Portugal said that Xavi’s performance with Barcelona was not bad this season. Because his team is still in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and is in second place in the Spanish League.

“Peace of mind comes from the results. We have spoken a lot about Xavi,” he said.

Deco said he did not know the detailed reasons why Xavi decided to leave his team even though he was still under contract for one more season. However, he said there seemed to be an underlying internal conflict.

“There has been a personal problem. We don’t have much to talk about. We have to think about the match,” he said.
