Today Sunday (April 7) is a public holiday on the occasion of Holy Shabbat. On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, banks will remain open today in the garment industry area to facilitate payment of salaries and bonuses to employees. However, instead of a full day, the transactions in the respective branches will continue within the scheduled time.
As per the directives of the central bank, bank transactions will be conducted in industrial areas on Sunday from 9:30 am to 1 pm. The office will continue till 3 pm.
Bangladesh Bank’s Department of Off-Site Supervision Department said in this circular that, on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the relevant branches of the commercial banks will be open for the purchase of salaries and allowances and export bills of the workers-employees-officials working in the garment industry on the 5th, 6th and 6th of the week before Eid. April 7 will be open on a limited basis.
In the light of this directive of the Central Bank, on this day, the branches related to garment industry made by Scheduled Bank located in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chittagong opened on holidays by ensuring adequate security.
According to Bangladesh Bank, the office schedule of the branches located in the respective areas will be from 9:30 am to 3 pm. Of this last Friday, the transaction was from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, the office was open until 3:00 pm.
