On the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, banks are open in some areas today Saturday (April 6). Mainly to facilitate the payment of salary and bonus to the employees of the garment factories, bank transactions are going on for three days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the garment industry area. However, instead of a full day, transactions will be conducted in the respective branches on these three days at the scheduled time.
Bangladesh Bank’s Department of Off-Site Supervision Department Director Masuma Sultana said that on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the relevant branches of commercial banks are limited to the weekly and public holidays of April 5, 6 and 7 for the purchase of export bills and salaries of the workers/officials working in the garment industry. Range will be open.
The respective branches of Scheduled Bank located in Dhaka Metropolis, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chittagong will remain open on holidays with adequate security.
According to Bangladesh Bank, the office schedule of the branches located in the respective areas will be from 9:30 am to 3 pm. On Friday (April 5), transactions are conducted from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, office hours are open until 3:00 pm.
Today, Saturday (April 6) and tomorrow, Sunday (April 7), bank transactions will be conducted in industrial areas from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. The office will continue till 3 pm.
Bangladesh Bank has issued this directive in the public interest under the powers given in section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991.
