Bangladesh took 5 wickets of Sri Lanka for 57 runs. Sri Lanka are under a lot of pressure after losing half their wickets at the beginning of the day. Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis added 35 runs in the sixth wicket but could not overcome the pressure. Bangladesh went to the midday break keeping the Lankans under pressure.
By the mid-day break, the Lankans had accumulated 92 runs for the loss of 5 wickets after playing 22 overs. Dhananjaya de Silva is unbeaten on 25 runs and Kamindu on 11 runs.
Sri Lanka lost the toss and went to bat at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
The right-handed pacer took the first wicket in the second over of the innings.
In the last ball of the over, Khaled made a hand catch of the Lankan opener Nishan Madushka at third slip. While driving this young pacer, opener Nishan Madushka (2 off 9 balls) could not make good connection with the bat. The ball hit the edge of the bat and went to Mehdi Hasan Miraj. Miraj took the opportunity completely.
Then Khaled hunted a pair in the 12th over. Lankan top order Kushal Mendis went to cut the short and bounced ball of the over (second ball). But the right-hander seems to be a bit late to pool. As a result, the ball was going towards the foul zone. From there, Mendis was palmed by Zakir Hasan. Mendis returned with 16 runs off 26 balls.
In the last ball of that over, Khaled bowled Dimuth Karunaratne who was trying to stay on the pitch. This left-handed Lankan batsman scored 17 runs off 37 balls.
Angelo Mathews was run out in the next over of Khaled. Dinesh Chandimal was trying to get a run by throwing Khaled offside. The fielder Nazmul Hossain who was there made a calm confident through and directly broke the stumps of Mathews going for strike.
