Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI) informed this Monday, in an extraordinary general meeting, that the shareholders unanimously approved the amendment of the Company’s Statutes, for the purposes of preparing its qualification as a Public Company, Notícias de Angola learned.

This historic moment for the Bank will allow it to open its capital on the stock exchange in the near future.

As Mário Barber, Vice-President of the Board of Directors, said at the end of BAI’s main meeting that “this is the expected path for an institution in rapid growth”, therefore, he added, “the amendment of the statutes is a first step in beginning of a new phase of Banco Angolano de Investimentos”.

With this important change, BAI will assume the status of a Public Company and will now have to comply with certain requirements, namely an adaptation of systems and processes, greater demands on the disclosure of financial information, in a timely and transparent manner.

“This will be a long, but sustained and transparent process, with the Public Offering expected to take place in mid-2022”, guaranteed the President of the BAI Executive Committee, Luís Lélis.
