The 2024 application phase of the cross-border Media & Me project – backstage at media jobs has started. This year the project is taking place for the eighth time.
Up to 15 young people from Luxembourg, Germany, France and Belgium have the chance to get to know the media landscape of the greater region, gain professional orientation, gain practical experience and make industry contacts.
The focus this year is on the topic: “Use of AI in journalism – opportunities and risks for the media landscape”. Jan Hofer, former chief spokesman for the Tagesschau, will once again take over the patronage.
Apply now
Until April 30, 2024 Interested parties from the greater region can apply to the Saarland State Media Authority (LMS) with a letter of motivation, a video/audio contribution or in another creative way ([email protected]). An independent jury will select up to 15 participants. Participation is free.
From May to November 2024, these 15 media enthusiasts will take a look behind the scenes of various media companies and media professions in the greater region for several days in a program comprising seven modules.
Sensible use of AI
It will also be about the sensible use of artificial intelligence. Young people are increasingly using AI tools for research purposes or to help create content. The application of AI in a wide variety of media areas offers many advantages and opportunities, but also entails risks.
The necessary specialist knowledge for the sensible and responsible use of AI and the media ethics and legal issues involved are primarily conveyed in all modules. In this way, the participants are prepared for the different challenges of media professions in our greater region.
