After the Central Bank of Russia revoked the license of “Qiwi Bank” on February 21, the “Contact” payment system stopped operations, including through Azerbaijani banks.
Publika.az reports that this is reported on the website of “Qiwi Bank”, the operator of the system.
According to the Central Bank of Russia, the license of “Qiwi Bank” was revoked for conducting shadow operations: “The bank made settlements between individuals and shadow businesses, including in favor of cryptocurrencies, online casinos and bookmakers.”
Also, today morning, transactions through “Qiwi” wallets have been blocked.
It was mentioned on the bank’s website that the service has been temporarily suspended.
It should be noted that the “Contact” payment system has more than 760,000 points for receiving and issuing money transfers throughout Russia, near and far abroad.
In the last year, the Central Bank of Russia applied restrictive measures against Qiwi Bank 5 times. In particular, certain operations were restricted twice. After the license is revoked, the regulator will send information about banking transactions with criminal signs to law enforcement agencies.
