Automatic ‘electronic shield’ against suicidal UAVs

Based on practical experiences in the Ukrainian battlefield, Russia has developed an automated electronic countermeasures system capable of stopping drone complexes called Stupor.

A product of the company of the same name, the Stupor electronic countermeasures system is designed to protect static targets, bases, and warehouses from the threat of suicide UAVs.

A special feature of Stupor is the ability to operate in complete automation thanks to the support of artificial intelligence. When a target is detected, the system will automatically analyze, identify and provide an appropriate electronic suppression plan. Information about suppression operations will be sent to the operator’s mobile device.

The Stupor system is built on the basis of a combination of phased array radar reconnaissance systems, radio frequency scanners, optical UAV identification systems and target suppression devices.

According to information from the manufacturer, the Stupor system is integrated with optical observation equipment based on battlefield experience that radar cannot always identify attacking UAVs, especially devices with Small size and low altitude operation.

The Stupor system operates on the principle of broadcasting interference or interrupting the drone control channel, replacing coordinates and preventing connection between the control center and the target UAV. The system is capable of detecting UAVs at a range of 5km and creating an electronic suppression zone up to 2km wide around the location that needs protection.
